You were born for a purpose.

You weren’t born to play small or continually push yourself to do shit that doesn’t feel good to you.

Too many gifted people LIVE LIKE THIS, and I believe it’s one of the biggest causes of suffering.

Because let’s face it, if you WERE DESTINED FOR SOMETHING BIGGER but you are insisting on keeping yourself small you will suffer.

You will feel unfulfilled. You will feel tired. You will feel unhappy and unsatisfied. And that suffering will likely transfer into struggling in more than one area of your life.

And the most ironic part of this is if you simply tapped into more of who you really are and worked towards infusing more of YOU into every area of your life, your whole life could transform before your very eyes.

Unfortunately, growing up most of us are taught the basics of life. Go to school, get good grades, go to university, get a good paying job, find a partner, settle down, get married, have kids (or if you don’t be prepared for endless questions about when you’re having them), work hard and eventually you can retire and live the good life.

But that’s the thing that way of living NEVER FELT GOOD TO ME.

The only work I was really interested and capable of doing long-term was work that meaningful and made a difference. Work that felt energising and fulfilling. Work that felt good in my heart, my soul and my bones. Work that was in alignment with my strengths and gifts. Work that was ALIGNED TO WHO I TRULY AM.

I see a real problem in mainstream employment… to often it’s focused on developing a person’s weaknesses rather than accepting an individual for everything they are and encouraging them to work more in alignment with their strengths.

If there’s something I’ve learned in the last few years it’s that focusing on developing your weaknesses is never a recipe for peak performance, personal fulfilment or success. You must learn to operate predominately from your strengths – not only is it more fun, but there are better rewards!

SOOOOOOO……

Quit trying to be things you aren’t and embrace everything that you are and all of the wonderful things that come most naturally to you. These are your true gifts and your purpose stems from your innate strengths, not your weaknesses.

If you are feeling stuck and unfulfilled start by doing a stocktake of everything that brings you joy. Everything that you like doing. What do people say you are naturally good at? What skills do you have that you most enjoy using? What are the things you do where time just seems to pass you by? Who inspires you? What about them in particular inspires you and do you see any patterns? These questions can all give you clues about where your own heart lies.

Often we downplay what we are innately good at. We overlook what comes most easily and think it isn’t anything special but I tell you, there’s gold inside you waiting to be uncovered and unleased and if you haven’t found it yet keep exploring.

As Elizabeth Gilbert wrote in her book Big Magic “The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them. The hunt to uncover those jewels – that’s creative living. The courage to go on the hunt in the first place – that’s what separates a mundane existence from a more enchanted one. The often surprising results of that hunt – that’s what I call big magic”.

You were born to be an effective deliberate creator, realise your greatness and step into the full magnificence of who you are.

So make a decision to write down all the things you’d love to be, do or have if there were NO LIMITS and GET SPECIFIC. Decide to live big. Go on the hunt. Uncover the jewels buried within you.

Give yourself permission to dream big, know y0ur worth and believe in your heart all your dreams are possible.

There’s no rewards to be found in keeping yourself small when you know you were born for more.
